Kyocera's DuraForce PRO may not be the leanest of smartphones, weighing in at 230 grams and measuring 12.9mm thick , but it is loaded with a bunch of pros that put it near the top of the rugged Android pyramid. Note, though, that we also consider its 3240mAh battery a con, especially versus the roughly-4000mAh power caps boasted by many other models, including some non-rugged ones, in this class.
Kicking off its list of pros are its IP68 and MIL-STD-810G rugged certifications , which combine to make it resistant to water, dust, shocks, high heat, etc. Additionally, it is certified non-incendive (Class 1, Division 2) , meaning that it is safe for use in most hazardous environments. Enhanced Push-to-Talk (EPTT) joins in as well.
Heading over to its technical specs, the DuraForce PRO boasts a 13-megapixel camera with Super Wide View (up to 135-degree shots) and an underwater shooting mode , while a 1.5GHz + 1.2GHz split-octa-core CPU provides its much-needed muscle -- we wish that it had 3GB of RAM (instead of just 2GB), though . As for storage, its 32GB native memory is easily-eclipsed by a whopping up-to-256GB microSD card support .
Crowning the DuraForce PRO's pros and cons is fingerprint identification , which somewhat strengthens its stature as a high-end, outdoor-ready 5-inch Android phone.
