The ZTE Blade X Max is a lower-mid-range smartphone that banks mostly on its 6-inch screen. Aside from this feature, however, it has other specs that deserve just as much attention.

Its display is protected by a Dragontail Glass covering . Sporting a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which results to a 367DPI fineness, the Blade X Max's claim of being a multimedia-friendly phablet is built on a pretty solid foundation.

When it comes to imaging pros and cons, its 13-megapixel rear camera fares slightly better than its 5-megapixel counterpart at the front . However, it does come with a selfie screen flash feature , which may partly make up for the less-than-stellar resolution.

The Blade X Max enjoys the advantage of having an octa-core processor , which runs at a clock speed of 1.4GHz. Its 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage aren't complete stand-outs, but such specs seem acceptable considering the Blade X Max's target market.

To add to this, its 3400mAh battery is quite promising. While it's unlikely that this relatively-large amount of power would directly translate to amazing longevity (given this phone's display size), it's still comforting to know that ZTE made an effort to bump up the amount of juice inside the Blade X Max (as compared to the category average).

With this, it's not really a shock that the Blade X Max had to come with a lot of weight and thickness. Being around 9.4mm-thick and 196g-heavy , handling it will obviously take some getting used to.

With these pros and cons in mind, it appears like the ZTE Blade X Max would make a strong lower-mid-range contender for hardcore phablet fans (in other words, those who are already inclined to accept the consequences that come with large devices). With such a bulky profile and rather-outdated aesthetics, it's probably not going to please the portability- and design-conscious.
