- Analysis by Christelle Nina

With the Blade Z Max, ZTE has apparently played most of its cards right. The pros and cons highlighted below show much promise from this device, with encouraging specs that go beyond its large battery.

With a 6-inch phablet-sized screen, the Blade Z Max nestles a 1920-pixel by 1080-pixel resolution . It may not flat-out beat all the phones in its category in terms of display sharpness, but the fact that it has a higher DPI count (at about 367) than the iPhone 7 should already tell you something.

Its cameras are quite competitive, as well. At the back, a dual-camera (16MP + 2MP) setup takes care of photography tasks. A promising 8-megapixel sensor holds reign in the front, but compared to many other similar devices, it does not have a front-facing LED flash .

As previously-mentioned, it has quite the formidable battery size, with 4080mAh's worth of fuel in its stash . This promises the user above-average working time, with 31 hours of talk time and 22 days of stand-by .

With all these big-talking specs comes a major con. The Blade Z Max has striven to offer as many features as it can, but at the expense of handiness. At 6.17 ounces , it's quite heavy compared to the average across all phones. Although its 0.33mm depth is below-average, ease of handling is still compromised by the expanse of its profile -- having a width and height of 3.33 and 6.54 inches, respectively .

Performance-wise, the ZTE Blade Z Max takes on a more subtle, but still competitve, stance. Its octa-core 1.4GHz processor and 2GB RAM are both decent specs for a device of this stature.

With these pros and cons, the Blade Z Max appears to be a highly-promising phone. It has a few issues with portability and the lack of a selfie flash, but it still looks like a value-for-money device.
