Compare The OnePlus 2 vs OnePlus 3
We all know what you're thinking, the OnePlus 3 being more recent, it must necessarily be the best one in all matters, right? Well... not exactly, or at least not in everything, considering that our specs comparison reveals certain aspects of the OnePlus 2 that, surprisingly, make it come out ahead.
That said, are these differences enough, combined with the presumably-lower price, to justify choosing the 2015 model over the 2016 one? Here's what we know:

For starters, the OnePlus 3 may have a higher pixel resolution on both rear and front cameras, rocking 16 and 8 megapixels, accordingly, versus the OnePlus 2's 13 and 5 megapixels, but the older model somehow squeezes in a better flash setup. By this, we mean that the OnePlus 2 touts a dual-LED flash, whereas the OnePlus 3 (the newer model) downgrades it to a single LED light only. That being said, the OnePlus 3 did not hold back on specifying its high-end camera features, including 1.4-micron pixels and EIS (electronic image stabilization), though both models show no difference when compared with respect to video recording, since they both capture crisp 4K-2160p videos. In terms of performance, where the OnePlus 2 has a Snapdragon 810 octa-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz, the OnePlus 3 rocks a quad-core Snapdragon 820 chip sliced into two clusters of 2.2GHz and 1.6GHz. This means that, not only does the OnePlus 3 own a couple of higher-revved cores, it is also potentially more power-efficient, since it can juggle between its CPU clusters, depending on the performance requirement. Also making a huge difference for the OnePlus 3 is its 6GB LPDDR4 RAM, which will make any tech-savvy user salivate, despite knowing that the OnePlus 2's 4GB/3GB capacity already stood on flagship ground. So, the 2015 model may have made a case with its dual-flash setup, but it certainly loses to the 2016 edition, when compared in terms of hardware. Battery Life |

The last of these two phones' significant differences is battery life. Compared to the newer OnePlus 3, with its 3000mAh battery pack, the OnePlus 2 may have a higher stamina on paper, lugging 3300mAh of power. However, the new model's Dash Charge technology, which claims to replenish at least 60% of its total battery capacity in just 30 minutes, may turn the tables, or at least equalize the charts for the OnePlus 3 -- the OnePlus 2 only has 300mAh (10%) more power anyway. Still, with the trend that has many brands make Energy phones with big batteries, we are still shedding a tiny tear about their decision not to bring back the slightly-bigger battery. OnePlus 2 vs OnePlus 3: Our Conclusion
Though both the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus 3 address the same tech-savvy market segment, several differences in terms of specs clearly reveal that the OnePlus 3 is, as expected, the best choice between the two, but not completely. Here is what we think you could do:
- With a current price of , compared to the OnePlus 2's , price might end up being the only potential reason not to go for the OnePlus 3 -- unless, of course, you find its 6GB RAM and Snapdragon 820 chip too high-tech.
- That being said, the OnePlus 2 is still quite-the-tech compared to so many other phones, and would not be so much of a bad choice, but it does not match its sibling's imaging prowesses, which are delivered through 16- and 8-megapixel cameras.
